Do you give to charities in the UK – Gift Aid – Do you know what it is?

On the back of one of my questions it is obvious to me that some people who are giving their hard earned cash to charity are unaware that they can – if they pay tax – fill in a gift aid form and the charity they give to can recover another 28% from the government! So to round off the question who knows where to get a gift aid form? First person to put up a usable link for a generic ‘Gift Aid’ form gets the whole 500 credits… shame I cant get another 28% from the government for such a worthy cause…

Is Yahoo! owned by Google or vice versa, or do they have any affiliation with each other besides competition?

One of my friends claimed that Yahoo! bought Google (or has owned Google), or the other way around. Then she claimed I don’t watch the news enough. If anything, in my opinion, Google would have already bought Yahoo!, as they’re on their way to World Domination. Internet World, that is.

Well, an update to my previous question about the Swine Flu out break……..now 81 dead in Mexico,

cases in Texas, California……even as far as New Zealand……..the CDC (Center for Disease Control) is terrified…they are calling this the worst outbreak ever, possibly bigger than the 1918 outbreak that killed millions. Folks, are you: Washing your hands thoroughly, wearing masks anywhere even near an area of known outbreak, eating well and taking VIt C and keeping yourself hydrated? and all the other common sense things to do?…….This could be the worst outbreak in history, as they’re not yet sure this is a mutating flu (worse if it is) or not. Stay on your toes, keep a special watch on the very young and very old….get immediate attention if you have a fever….it IS treatable…The scariest part of this whole virus is that it contains components never seen before.

Here’s a Reason To Keep Them Tax Rebates Coming?

Vanity Fair reported the other day about the cost of Cindy McCain’s opening night outfit.
Cindy McCain’s $300,000 Outfit

But if that wasn’t enough, it is reported that it was paid for with GW’s tax cuts. Tax cuts that McCain wants to keep permanent. No Wonder! Check this out.
Bush’s Tax Cuts Pay For Cindy’s Outfit

According to an analysis by the Center for American Progress Action Fund, the McCains have received $313,413 thanks to George Bush’s tax cut.

But then since middle class is anything under $5 MILLION dollars, the $300,000 is just a drop in the bucket. A drop that some people could live on for 10 years.

Of course it all goes along with the $500 shoes, the houses and cars they can’t keep track of in order to pay their taxes, etc. But they aren’t the elitists. Right!

Why do I keep getting invited to join Yahoo! groups?

I do have a Yahoo address which I reserve for a particular purpose and is therefore not really used.

But I keep getting emails asking me to join somebody’s personal Yahoo! group.
(Not always the same person)

Clearly it’s spam, and I’m not daft enough to click on the link in the email, although it does seem to point to a Yahoo Groups page rather than some dodgy "get yourself spammed" email collection/verification process.

But what would be the advantage of somebody I don’t know getting me to join their group?

Apart from the ability to spam the gullible en masse, that is….

To Prove or disprove God exists…

I have seen many attempts to prove God exists… This is a great explanation why I believe there is no God. Just trying to level the playing field with the creationists…
What would happen if we get down on our knees and pray to God in this way:
Dear God, almighty, all-powerful, all-loving creator of the universe, we pray to you to cure every case of cancer on this planet tonight. We pray in faith, knowing you will bless us as you describe in Matthew 7:7, Matthew 17:20, Matthew 21:21, Mark 11:24, John 14:12-14, Matthew 18:19 and James 5:15-16. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
Watch the video
We pray sincerely, knowing that when God answers this completely heartfelt, unselfish, non-materialistic prayer, it will glorify God and help millions of people in remarkable ways.
Will anything happen? No. Of course not.
This is very odd. Jesus makes specific promises in the Bible about how prayer is supposed to work. Jesus says in many different places that he and God will answer your prayers. And Christians believe Jesus — according to this recent article, "54% of American adults believe the Bible is literally true." In some areas of the country the number goes as high as 75%.
If the Bible is literally true, then something is seriously amiss. Simply look at the facts. In Matthew 7:7 Jesus says:
Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
If "every one who asks receives", then if we ask for cancer to be cured, it should be cured. Right? If "our Father who is in heaven gives good things to those who ask him", then if we ask him to cure cancer, he should cure it. Right? And yet nothing happens.
In Matthew 17:20 Jesus says:
For truly, I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.
If "nothing will be impossible to you", then if we ask to cure cancer tonight, cancer should disappear. Right? Yet nothing happens. Note that if we take the Bible less-than-literally here, the statement "nothing will be impossible to you" becomes "lots of things will be impossible to you," and that would mean that Jesus is lying.
In Matthew 21:21:
I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.
If "you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer", then if we ask to cure cancer tonight, cancer should dissappear. Right? Yet nothing happens. Note again that there is not a non-literal way to interpret "you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer", unless you replace "whatever" with "nothing" or "little."
The message is reiterated Mark 11:24:
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
If God says, "believe that you have received it, and it will be yours," and if we believe in God and his power, then what should happen if we pray to cure cancer tonight? It should be cured. Either that, or God is lying.
In John chapter 14, verses 12 through 14, Jesus tells all of us just how easy prayer can be:
"I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." [ref]
Look at how direct this statement is: "You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." This is the "Son of God" speaking. Have we taken him "too literally?" No. This is a simple, unambiguous statement. Have we taken his statement "out of context?" No – Jesus uses the word anyone. Yet Jesus’ statement is obviously false. Because when we ask God to cure cancer tonight, nothing happens.
We see the same thing over and over again…
In Matthew 18:19 Jesus says:
Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
In James 5:15-16 the Bible says:
And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
In Mark 9:23:
All things are possible to him who believes.
In Luke 1:37:
For with God nothing will be impossible.
Nothing could be simpler or clearer than Jesus’ promises about prayer in the Bible. Yet, when we pray to eliminate cancer, nothing happens.
And keep in mind that this is Jesus talking here. These are not the words of human beings. These are not the words of "inspired" human beings. These are supposedly the words of God himself, incarnated in a human body. Jesus is supposed to be a perfect, sinless being. And yet, it is obvious that Jesus is lying. What Jesus says is clearly incorrect.

Jesus is supposed to be God. God is supposed to be perfect.
When Jesus speaks, he should speak the truth.
Yet when we look at what Jesus says about prayer,
he is clearly lying.
If you would like additional proof, gather a million faithful believers together into a giant prayer circle. Have them all pray together in Jesus’ name that God cures every case of cancer on the planet tomorrow. Pray sincerely, knowing that when God answers this completely heartfelt, unselfish, non-materialistic prayer, it will glorify God and help millions of people in remarkable ways. Now, we certainly have two or more people gathered together, and they have asked in Jesus’ name, and we have not one but a million faithful believers who, by definition, have faith and believe. We have fulfilled every one of Jesus’ requirements.
Will Jesus answer the prayer now? Of course not. Your prayer will go unanswered, in direct defiance to Jesus’ promises in the Bible. In fact, if you pray for anything that is impossible, your prayer will always go unanswered.
If you are an intelligent, rational human being, all of the examples mentioned above show you that the God of the Bible is imaginary. What Jesus says about prayer in the Bible clearly is not true.
In fact, we have ample scientific evidence to demonstrate that the belief in prayer is nothing but pure superstition, as shown in the next proof..

Arundhati Roy, who has been the basis for my last few questions, once said this:

"Soviet-style communism failed, not because it was intrinsically evil, but because it was flawed. It allowed too few people to usurp too much power. Twenty-first-century market capitalism, American-style, will fail for the same reasons. Both are edifices constructed by human intelligence, undone by human nature."

Do you think this is true? Why or why not?

How prevalent do you believe prejudice is in this nation? We seem to be fragmenting into a …

Them v. Us for political entitlements. Boorstein, a historian of note some years back, said that the American public acts by consensus, v. conflict. Yet all I seem to hear is that "those people" ( whites, blacks, mexicans, asians) get it all , while we get nothing. Everyone seems to want a larger share of the pie. Years ago, Kennedys statement ( "Ask not…") truly meant something…we believed that we were an Union, and acted with a ( more or less) single voice. Now it seems there’s a cacophony of demands, claims of injuries, and finger pointing. Is my recollection idealized, or has the country begun to fragment into adversarial ethnicities. Is there a backlash by whites, who, facing a collective majority of non-european, non-Anglo groups, fear losing control? Or is there still a Union, diversity being regarded as beneficial or al least benign.

Are you sure that there is any compatible anti virus program for windows 7?

I installed the latest release candidate version of windows 7 which I downloaded from the torrent last week.Microsoft says that there are many security service providers for windows 7 like AVG ,Kaspersky etc.I downloaded the latest version of their security software from their site itself and installed in windows 7.The Windows security center shows that antivirus program which I am using is ON,but it is in a state that it is no more compatible. Then they are also saying to use the programs auto update feature.I downloaded the latest version but still I face this problem. Is this because Microsoft has not seen this?

Where can I get an "I’m a PC" sticker?

I first saw them on the Windows 7 home page, then decided to do a google search. I found various giveways, but they were all either long passed, or not available to my area (Canada).

I would REALLY like one for my new laptop. I would find it hard to believe that there is no website that makes them,

If possible, I would like something that is durable, but can come off cleanly if it needs to be taken off. I REALLY don’t want to have my two day old laptop covered in a gluie residue.

Also, It would be good if there was a website that shipped to Canada at a reasonable cost…

Thanks in advance…
