How would you raise company sponsorship and publicity for a sponsored event.?

We’ve already started the ball rolling, but maybe you can think of things that we haven’t. Thanks y’all.

Do you give to charities in the UK – Gift Aid – Do you know what it is?

On the back of one of my questions it is obvious to me that some people who are giving their hard earned cash to charity are unaware that they can – if they pay tax – fill in a gift aid form and the charity they give to can recover another 28% from the government! [...]

Why am I seeing loads of Father’s Day questions and adverts?

Do you favour Sunday as a day of rest?

In the UK we’ve nearly always had some activities on a Sunday. In 1993 I went to live in Ireland and everything was shut all day Sunday. At first I didn’t like it, but after a while it was a great day. Now, Ireland is the same as everywhere else. Shops open, pubs open and so [...]

At any given moment in time, what is the average number of planes that are in flight?

There was a composite picture in the newspaper the other day showing all of the planes from Heathrow that fly over a point in London in one minute – I think it was about 50…so I got thinking…

Would it be legal in the UK to grow your own tobacco?

You can brew your own beer without having to pay tax on it, but could you grow your own tobacco plants?

But it occurred to me that many families are now being told to grow [...]

How did a blind pilot land an airplane?

Which concerns you most a) the fact it’s quite easy to obtain an EU passport and enter the UK (illegally) or b) unguarded missile and weapon stockpiles in former USSR countries?

Option a) means someone can enter the UK and claim benefits, housing and medicine amongst other things and option b) means ‘undesirables’ could get their hands on guns, missles and ammunition to kill, maim, attack and persecute others. Due to the range though, it’s unlikely to have any direct effect on the UK.

"Youf" culture observations….

In the UK, we seem to have a rise in violent crime involving youths. The solution proposed by the state seems to involve more and more legislation that doesn’t seem to address any issues (whatever they are), but instead punishes pretty much everyone to catch the few (e.g. curfews, bag searches, …). Other legislation seems [...]

What effect would a change in the law about ’soft drugs’ in the Netherlands have on the UK and other EU countries?

Is it true that the Red Arrows flying display has been banned from the Olympoics for being too British and do you agree

Is London really riddled with old plague pits, and are they a cause for concern?
