In movies, why does the audio of the next scene often start before the visuals?

Why can I often hear music or dialog for the next scene overlapping the end of the current scene before it has even finished? I can hear the next scene before I can actually see it, surely there must be a reason for this?!

When flicking through the tv channels are there any movies that you will always stop and watch, no matter how often you’ve seen them or how far into the film it is?

I’ll always watch The Matrix, A Knights Tale, and Equilibrium (as a few examples) no matter where in the film I come into it – even the last 15 minutes.

Harry Potter would you class it as a British film?

Given that its been written by a British author the Stars are British give or take a few, so just because it has an American director does this make it am American film. in Essance we do all the work and an American takes the credit. I would say its a British film.

I am sure that when I was a kid, most films had intervals, yet they are fairly few and far between today, even in three hour epics!
