Is it illegal for the British police to have fully automatic firearms?
I’ve read on some sites that this is the case (wiki etc), but on firearms blogs I’ve read it’s not. Some of those blogs have serving firearms officers as regulars.
For example, the picture shows a gun without an automatic function.
If a bus leaves earlier than its published timetable time, have you any grounds to claim frrom the bus company for losses incurred?
I can understand buses being late because of traffic, weather etc. But leaving early can have no excuse. Is the bus co responsible and thus suable if, say, you miss a flight because the (expletive deleted) bus left 10 minutes earlier than the stated time?
Sheriff Joe Arpaio, do you think there should be more like him? (tough on criminals)
I do, if you do send him a like not of thanks. http://www.mcso.org/index.php?a=GetModule&mn=Contact_Us I know that he will appreciate it.
Follow up on firearms Q, what about the Fairness Doctrine?
This is without a doubt an attack on our first amendment rights. Pornography, violent movies and video games , liberal media, hate groups are protected but not conservative radio?
Were you aware of this change to banking legislation which will allow banks to invalidate your right to reimbursment in cases of online fraud?
If you only use your home PC and have adequate security its probably okay provided you dont objec to the invasion of your privacy. But if you ever use an internet cafe ofr work PC to access your bank online you could be in real problems.

A neighbour of mine has decided to put a huge rock on the corner of his grass to stop some kids driving across his grass. The brick is about quater of a meter high and hangs over the edge of his grass.
Where he has got the tipper truck to put the rock is also the corner to a private car park that 10 other residents use. I myself have scratched my car accidently by turning in the car park and my father in law scrapped his car all along one side actually moving the rock back [...]
Why do modern governments demand so much more in taxes compared to like 200 years ago?
Now, you have to pay:* Federal Income Tax* State Income Tax* Social Security Tax* Sales Tax* Property Tax* Miscellaneous fees like car license, alcohol, etc
And even after you die, your children pay:* Inheritance taxBut still, government is running with a deficit and wants more. What is going on?
Litterbugs! How can we stop them?
A few local authorities around here had a campaing of getting tough on litter louts. They dished out on the spot fines to offenders.
Despite this, there’s no appreciable difference in rubbish lying around our streets.
Can you think of an effective way of reducing the incidence of littering and fly tipping?
Will a liferenter be liable for damage done to property subject to the liferent?
would it be possible to expand the answer as oppossed to yes/no answer, i understand what a liferent is, but i am getting confused as to what a liferenter and fiar actually are although i do have some basic understanding.
Thanks:)
My neighbour wants to bur our right of way across his land. How much is it worth?
Our neighbour is desperate to sell his house next door which he currently has been forced to rent out due to it’s inability to sell.
We have a right of way across his garden as our only side access and he has asked if he can buy this from us and have the deeds ammended. How [...]
Gov. Schwarzenegger says California "may be ready to legalize marijuana". Will that raise DUI fines?
While the state would perhaps no longer be able to arrest you for having it, or smoking it, ..it would probably still be a DUI conviction for driving while high.
Can you imagine the number of tickets written?
Truth is, ..DUI convictions raise a lot of money for cities and counties, ..do they not?
Is it worth it??????—

What regulations govern the sale of cold ’sweets’ like menthol sweets?
I went through the self-checkout at Sainsbury’s today, and had some Honey & Lemon menthol sweets in my basket. When I scanned them, it flashed up a message saying that approval was needed to buy these (the cashier needed to check that I was over 16).
Looking at the packaging, there is nothing to say [...]

Who will have the custody to the child, by the law, after the divorce if he lives permanently with the mother and the father does not pay any maintenance? Does it vary from country to country?
In my opinion there must be sole custody, however, maybe not, even if this is the case. Should this case be discussed in the court if to claim for the sole custody after the divorce? Does it mean that with the sole custody father will have no parents right to the child?
If one piece of evidence is admissable in court becuase it was properly obtained, is it made inadmissable if an illegal search is also carried out but does not produce any evidence?
Individual is searched for drugs (on basis that officer has reasonable grounds to suspect that they are in possession) and drugs are found, a full physical search (internal search) is also carried out but produces no drugs, does that mean that the crown can rely on the evidence fairly obtained even though the officers also [...]

I’m having trouble getting my number (which I took to Orange) back from them.
They won’t give my my PAC code.
Is there any regulation that I can quote to prove they aren’t allowed to keep the number from me?

Would it be reasonable for migrants and visitors to the UK from countries which have a high incidence of communicable diseases such as drug resistant TB and Hepititus B to have to either prove they have been screened in their native countries or undergo
screening here as a condition of entry?
It appears that 10% of chinese migrants are carrying the Hep B virus and apparently 96% of all UK cases are arise in those who have recently moved to Britain. I certainly dont think people should be refused asylum on the basis of health but if a person is [...]
Is membership of the NRA restricted to American citizens?
I would love to own a ‘piece’but the government here in the UK wont let me? Smoothbore weapons are fairly commonplace but after owning shotguns a long time ago I fancy improving my marksmanship with rifled shooters, The only people routinely armed here are the criminals. Perhaps I could store my collection at your house [...]
Would you support an element of religious law within UK culture?
Judges are proposing that elements of Sharia law are used in areas of mediation and dispute resolution – under the premise that this is still subject to the jurisdiction of the UK courts and noting that any punishments derived from such a service could only be derived from the UK laws (i.e. no flogging/stoning/hand amputations). On the back of Freckles question; How much does this litigation cost the tax-payer every year?
Surely the most cost effective resolution to many of these cases, would be for the government to do the Right thing in the first place, rather than be compelled to do so, by the courts. What is your opinion?
Could not this money have been better spent?
A stopped car at the side of the road with headlamps on full beam is illegal.
Not only that, but it really gets on my nerve! Is there any other thing that people seem to do on a daily basis that’s not only wrong but gets you annoyed?
law. I have been caught speeding. I have bee charged with exceeding 70mph on a dual carraigeway(91mph) The video evidence has me doing 82mph. Is this indiscrepency enough to get me off.
I am a Commando on a seven month tour of Afghanistan. I will not be home until late April early May 2007. I have no accsess to a lawyer. I would be very gratefull if some one could clarify that a 9mph discrepency in the charge and the evidence presented by the video reader, is [...]

What is the best thing to do if you spot someone driving like a nutter when you are driving down the motorway?
My first instinct is to reach for the phone and contact the police before their ridiculous behaviour gets someone killed, but if I did that, I’d be breaking the law.
So what is the correct, responsible thing to do?
The incident that has prompted this was a nutter in a white van (what else?) who was weaving [...]

What is the correct procedure to follow if you happen to soak someone by splashing your car through a puddle?
In the past week, I’ve seen news reports where a driving student failed her test after soaking someone, and was told by the instructor that she should have stopped and exchanged details, as this was technically an accident.
However, Scottish police have complained that someone dialled 999 after being the victim of such a splashing (which, [...]
Birmingham or Basra? How come our peace keepers can kill people in Basra but our peace keepers in Britain can’t toss a yob in a wheelie bin in Britain without getting slated? Double standards or what?
I’m a pacifist but society works best when all the horses are hitched pulling in the same direction. Why do one set of our nominated peace keepers have to face different rules and regs?

Household fuel prices are predicted to reach an increase of 40% this winter. Do the government have any legal authority to prevent fuel companys from passing on the entire cost increases to customers?
I understand that these companys have to protect profits, but they are showing record profits for the year to date so are in no danger of bankruptcy. It is surely unethical to allow such profiteering when people will be facing choices between heaing and food? Can these companys be forced to absorb some of the [...]

Arguments for/against legalising Prostitution?
I have a debate coming up soon and was looking for some insight I think my opponents will take the stance that it’s the person’s choice to pay for sex and it doesn’t affect anyone else so why not make it legal. We’ll be arguing that it has links to organised crime, stds and sexual [...]
