Why when learning a new language is it so much easier to remember rude words than ordinary ones?

My children are all learning languages at the moment but most of the time they cannot remember the basics but can remember the rude words. Even now I cannot remember my French lessons but still can recant the dirty words, even in sign language only know thank you and rude words.

University or go and get a job.

If you were sixteen again, if you went to university, would you do so again or go straight into work and vice versa for those who didn`t go to Uni. I went and got a job but feel I missed out on the whole being away from home Uni experience. I have no regrets though.
