If you were Britain’s Prime Minister, what steps would you take to help with this financial crisis, or any other crises that you may be suffering?
I do see a lot of complaints about the way Gordon Brown is running things (or not running things it would seem) so could I have some suggestions? We could forward them to him maybe! Countries mentioned in this Post: Britain

Will this really turn into one of the coldest winters in 100 years and if you think it will be, are you prepared?
"BRITAIN faces one of its bitterest winters for 100 years, with temperatures set to plummet to -17C (1.4F), forecasters warned last night." http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/29879/New-year-big-freeze-is-coming Countries mentioned in this Post: BRITAIN
Bonfire Night is coming. Have you ever actually read Verse 3 of the song "Remember, Remember the Fifth of November"?
*Politically correct or what? What do you think? Down here in Lewes they take their Bonfire Nights seriously. Probably the best Bonfire Night in Britain. (Try googling Lewes Bonfire and be amazed. It knocks Notting Hill Carnival sidways). True, the Catholics burnt 17 Protestant martyrs at the stake here in Lewes and Catholics sent Guy [...]

The changes will also be made in Northern Ireland later in September. This page will help you understand the new laws. http://www.childcarseats.org.uk/law/fromseptember06.htm Were you aware [...]
Anyone know of a simple website that explains which chilli peppers are the hottest, mildest and so on for cooking with? I’ve found endless sites that explain Scoville units, growing chillis, chemical compounds in chillies etc etc.
What I really need is a concise, bone-simple ranking for the top chillies easily found in Britain’s greengrocers rather than wierd and wonderful chillies only found in America or Mexico. An idiot’s guide to Chillies! Any ideas? Cities mentioned in this Post: ScovilleCountries mentioned in this Post: Britain, Mexico
Calzone or Pasty, which influenced which?
The British pasty and the Italian calzone seem to be very similar. I have always wondered which way the influence went; from the Romans to the British or vice-versa?
Would it be reasonable for migrants and visitors to the UK from countries which have a high incidence of communicable diseases such as drug resistant TB and Hepititus B to have to either prove they have been screened in their native countries or undergo
screening here as a condition of entry? It appears that 10% of chinese migrants are carrying the Hep B virus and apparently 96% of all UK cases are arise in those who have recently moved to Britain. I certainly dont think people should be refused asylum on the basis of health but if a person [...]

What do you shout on the first day of the month?
According to htdg’s interesting link (check it out) to my Peacock Feather question below, his site about superstitions in Britain says we all go around shouting "White rabbit, white rabbit, white rabbit" on the first of each month! News to me! Maybe I have been living in a different Britain. What DO we all shout? [...]
Birmingham or Basra? How come our peace keepers can kill people in Basra but our peace keepers in Britain can’t toss a yob in a wheelie bin in Britain without getting slated? Double standards or what?
I’m a pacifist but society works best when all the horses are hitched pulling in the same direction. Why do one set of our nominated peace keepers have to face different rules and regs? Cities mentioned in this Post: Basra, BirminghamCountries mentioned in this Post: Britain
Can anyone give some insight into being raised in the 1950′s? Cont below
My daughters has a school project to do on life in the 1950′s Britain and we would like to hear anyones personal accounts of it. I know we can look up any old website on the matter but as always they tend to glamourise it and we want real life. Doesn’t matter what age you [...]
Would you be happy for the Home Office to hold a record of every phone call,Txt message and email you send or recieve on a national database "to combat terrorisim"?
Do you think the threat justifys this degree of invasion of privacy of each and every individual in Britain (and indeed Europe as it is planned to extend this to a EU database? Do you feel that your data would be safe with a government who has time after time proven it wont take enough [...]
Why do we know so little about the war in Afghanistan?
With the current Israel/Gaza conflict, we’re getting almost 24 hour TV coverage, and updates every few minutes. We know what sort of missiles and aircraft are being used, we know the state of training and supply of both sides. Now compare this with the conflict in Afghanistan. Remember Tony Blair telling us we weren’t at [...]
Britain and Canada have begun giving welfare to the other wives in polygamous marriages. Is this O.K. to you?
Both countries require the marriages to be legal and valid in Muslim countries. This is official government recognition of the institution of polygamy within their borders.http://209.85.129.104/search?q=cache:xfwVI37SwWUJ:refugeeresettlementwatch.wordp… Countries mentioned in this Post: Canada, Britain
Are any quota quickies still watched?
Quota quickies were films made in Britain in the 1930s-50s. Legally, a certain quota of films shown in Britain had to be made in Britain, and the quickies were cheap films made to put on double bills with popular Hollywood films. Thing is, although I know that much about them, I don’t actually know the [...]
Is there any completely fair way of making decisions by TV voting?
If you look at shows like Britain’s Got Talent, often the most successful stars are the ones who come from geographically highly populated areas. This is probably due to local press promoting them and encouraging a vote for xxx to be a vote for, say, Manchester or Scotland. Is there any way of these shows [...]

What would you think if you were told that the Red Arrows were refused permission to do a fly past at the Olympics in London 2012 because it would be too British?
Yes the Red Arrows are typically British and what better way to show how proud we are of them and of being British etc etc than by letting them do a fly past at the 2012 Olympics ) Have heard rumours they wont be allowed.
