Well, an update to my previous question about the Swine Flu out break……..now 81 dead in Mexico,
cases in Texas, California……even as far as New Zealand……..the CDC (Center for Disease Control) is terrified…they are calling this the worst outbreak ever, possibly bigger than the 1918 outbreak that killed millions. Folks, are you: Washing your hands thoroughly, wearing masks anywhere even near an area of known outbreak, eating well and taking VIt C and keeping yourself hydrated? and all the other common sense things to do?…….This could be the worst outbreak in history, as they’re not yet sure this is a mutating flu (worse if it is) or not. Stay on your toes, keep a special watch on the very young and very old….get immediate attention if you have a fever….it IS treatable…The scariest part of this whole virus is that it contains components never seen before.

Are you sure it's not some excuse/cover-up for chemical warfare gone awry?

Wifey, I would not at all be surprised. Good think you live in one of the hottest desert areas in the U.S…….bad thing that 56% of Vegas is Hispanic, and they DO travel a lot.

*most bacterium and such cannot survive in the desert, and the Hispanic % was not meant to be insulting, but just to note that better than half of Las Vegas has an awful lot of Mexicans going back and forth to Mexico. I suspect Vegas will be one of the first places to have an outbreak.

Well Talatha, in part, that's my intention….to shake people up enough to be super careful in the coming weeks and months…..this IS serious……the "funny" side of me is deliberate as well so that I maintain an interested audience when I get serious………shhhhh don't tell anyone.

Just google it or see my previous question about this. It's already everywhere.

New York, probably- will be confirmed today, but a lot of kids at a private school appear stricken.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I think everyone should have a heads up on this……so far though, no American has died. There IS treatment, TMAFLU works as do some other antibiotics. The key is prevention, sanitation, and immediate treatment.

They die in Mexico probably because of unsanitary conditions……you've heard all the jokes about the water……I am guessing their hospitals and clinics aren't as clean and that general rules of infection control aren't too good….I guess it's like putting a sick person in a very contaminated place, and yes, then they die…….from an overwhelming attack from what they have already plus whatever is in that place- a nosocomial infection. I also suspect that they don't have nearly as good treatment there as we do.

Just be careful and don't let anyone intimidate or bother you for washing hands, wearing a mask, etc.
