Do you go to the theatre much?

If so, what do you like to see – musicals? stand up? plays?

If not, why not? Is it a perception of elitism, a price thing, or just not having a theatre where you live?

Apart from the odd panto, I have never been to a theatre. Funny thing is my mum used to go to london at least once a year to see a west end show, and we lived further away from London than I do now.

I suppose I just never got round to it

Having worked in a theatre I used to go alot but in recent years I havent been except to see the Rocky Horror Show-basically because nothing has appealed to me and I would prefer not to go alone and none of my friends are remotely interested in going to the theatre unfortunately-except to see Rocky Horror…

Theatre going is expensive. My hubby and I go when we are on holday but not throughout the rest of the year.

Yes, I love the theatre and ususally go about once every 6 weeks. We take the grandchildren to but they only want to go if someone really famous is on.
We usually go to the Arts at Cambridge which has pretty good stuff on but my favourite theatre in the whole world is The Mill at Sonning, near Reading. It's a lovely place but we don't go often because we have to stay overnight so it's a bit expensive.

I'm very lucky as i live quite close to the west end. So i go every couple of months, musicals mainly, but anything goes really.

Sadly my Spanish is not up to the subtleties of theatre.
I go to at least one play, or stand up whenever I return to England.

I would rather push pins in my eyes than go to a musical – although I once did half of Phantom of the Opera.

I rarely go to the theatre – I only remember going when I was young for a variety show and recently for a music program…Reason I don't go is due to the expense I think. What I would want to go for are dance or musical performances and if I'm going for something like that I'd like to sit somewhere I can get a good view too (currently only things I can afford are obstructed view tickets).

I go to the theatre a fair amount and would love to go more if I lived closer to London. Regional theatres are all well and good but they lack the excitement and grandness of the London ones.

I mostly go to see Musicals, as my Dad loves them. It's our Father/Daughter bonding night out. He treats me to dinner and a show which is nice.

Musicals would be my first preference but I'd happily go and see any good plays, stand up, etc. if I had more time or lived closer to London.

not since school, i got dragged up to london with the rest of the english lit' class to watch a shakespeare play,
and was surprised at how much i enjoyed it, watching the actors perform the play that we had studied for the last few months added context to the dry old text i'd been reading in those old dogeared books.
