Would you ever consider eating an animal’s [ahem] man parts?

Just seen this story on the BBC website, which has left me feeling a bit sick.

What do you think? Is this a restaurant you would consider visiting if in Beijing?

    NO!

If it were a matter of life or death, I would probably eat my own.

However, even though I have much respect and admiration for Chinese culture, this is the worst case of the one aspect I abhor… Medicinal use of rare animal parts for what is essentially witchcraft.

I was outraged to read about the rich idiot who paid £3,000 for tiger penis. How can the restaurant guarentee that the tiger died of old age? How can they be sure that one will die of natural causes within 3 months? Call me cynical if you want, but I'm not sure that a tiger genitalia salesman is the most trustworthy person with whom you could do bussiness. I am deeply disturbed and suspicious.

I am also amazed that there is somebody who can pay that kind of money, for one, non-essential meal, in a supposedly socialist country. I am not sympathetic towards communism, but I admire people who have the courage of their convictions, to make something work… integrity if you will. It seems like the worst kind of hypocrisy to me, and it reeks of corruption.

So, in short, no. I would never, ever, ever, ever visit a place like this. I would go so far to say that I find such an establishment an affront to my cullinary and moral sensibilities.

Think I'd eat anything if I was hungry enough, but don't fancy it just as a normal meal.
