When is Diwali?

I know it is usually around the same time as Bonfire Night and it is a 5 day festival but it seems that it is on a different date each year. Is this right?

Diwali is the Hindu New year, the festival also celebrates the victory of Good over Evil, Knowledge over Ignorance, hence its alternative name 'The Festival of Light'.

The date of this festival is set according to the Vikrama calendar, which is a lunar calender, not a solar one.
