My husband has been caught by police with no tax or mot? What can he expect to receive?
Both had run out at end of Oct and as no renewal came through neither of us realised. (not trying to excuse it as realise its our fault for not being aware of this) He has insurance (although I realise this is technically invalid without the above) and has no points on his licence or previous convictions. The police said that they would be in contact asap with the next steps. What penalty can he expect to recieve?

well i think he will get a huge fine as he also does not have insurance as your insurance will be null and void as the car is not legal
the tax will be back dated to when it ran out and i would think atleast 6 points
if he gets the car mot'd now and it passes with no need for work a good brief maybe able to get that part of the charge dropped
as for the fine that will mainly depend on the judge/magistrate as it can be different from area to area
