Are you aware of the law to do with child car seats changes on the 18th of September 2006?
There will be a number of important changes to the law in Britain on the use of child restraints in cars, vans, and goods vehicles from the 18th of September. The changes will also be made in Northern Ireland later in September. This page will help you understand the new laws.

Were you aware of this?
If you were not and it affects you do you think the government should be doing more to make you aware of it?
Any other thoughts or comments?

Yes, I am Sheps but I only found out about it yesterday, I think it is a joke that there has not been more publicity about this.
But I also heard on the news that the police will not or will have trouble enforcing this new law.
And what about these kids that are going to have to go back into a car seat, I think the height lmit is 135cm, that is about the height of a 9 or 10 year old, parents are going to have some serious problems trying to get them to sit in a car seat again. It's a highlight of a kids life being able to sit in a car properly, makeing them feel a bit more mature and now you've got to tell them to get back into a Carseat.

"child may travel unrestrained"?!?!?! MADNESS!!! and you're now an adult at 14, eh? pah! and as for this: "Buses, Coaches, and Minibuses: Seated passengers aged 14 years and over MUST use seat belts where they are fitted." where it used to be 'fitted for your safety and comfort' and were optional. how the hell do they expect to enforce that?!
all " " quotes from link provided by sheps.

nope i wasnt aware of it till saturday when i saw the cardboard thing in woolies. fortunately my 11 yr old is tall enough to use an adult seatbelt…..he told me there was NO WAY MUM he was sitting on a booster seat!
they kept all this quiet didnt they! maybe its a cunning plan to extort more on the spot fines from parents who drive….

I am aware of it as I drive my 4 grandkids around but in future will only be able to take 2. Their mum, a non-driver, was completely unaware of the new law yet her children are regularly given lifts.
I think the best way to inform most parents would be a nationally agreed notice coming home via the schools.
