Why do humans have such complex emotions?
I believe animals and humans need the basic emotions such as desire and logical fear etc, but why have we developed those such as jealousy, vengeance, needless worrying and many more that seem detrimental to leading a well-adjusted life?(It hasn’t been proved that animals have these apparently useless emotions).

Would society benefit if the first few years of childrens’ schooling were devoted to teaching them how to lead decent lives in the community, and to be caring and useful people?
Yes, parents can teach them this kind of thing but learning in a group and interacting with others is usually more effective than learning this sort of thing alone. Most children don’t easily grasp, or need to know, the three Rs until they are 6 or 7, when they will understand more quickly anyway, [...]
If you had been sent
However, you thought that the friend was broke and didn’t have two pennies to rub together, also you had spent money on them thinking you were helping them out – what now would you do having read the last bit?
Why did people say, "… in all the KNOWN world."?
It would appear as pointless as saying, "in every KNOWN colour."We can obviously only refer to matters within the scope of human knowledge.
What shoul I ask about?
When I see all questions here I am impressed by the fantasy and the urge for the seeking of knowledge, but when I try to post a question myself this was the best I could do. What questions have not been asked? Do you have some suggestions?
There is so much information on the web, but is it all backed up in hard copy?
Supposing, through a world-wide disaster it was no longer possible to provide the power for computers (unlikely I’m sure but, if..) would all this knowledge be lost?
How can i stop the Updates of microsoft?

Without looking it up please list which drugs you [...]
How indipendant is our knowledge and opinions of current affairs?
I guess we all like to think we that we hold our own views and are not subject to propaganda but is this really true?
In most cases we don’t witness the events ourselves but get our knowledge of events from the news media. They will mostly get it second hand themselves.
Even with the [...]

Apparently Gordon Brown has said that he is sure the whole country is worried and anxious about Jade Goody. Are you?
Personally I have other things to be worried and anxious about. Her situation is sad, especially for her sons, but I struggle to get overly worried and anxious about her. There are thousands of little children battling cancer – and yet the owner of Harrods offers her a wedding dress, Elton John offers her something [...]

Is Quidditch a rubbish game ?
My son is reading Harry Potter and thinks that Quidditch is a great game. It seems, to me, a rubbish game when the side leading 5-1 are defeated by one player the opposition team finding a golden ball in the car park.
However, a quick change to the rules of cricket may save the ashes !
Big Knickers and Nice Legs!! Can you name these films please

Jack Lemmon Look-alike (or the real thing in drag) with american navy in white uniforms with Hollywood bands?
Thank you all for your time – I loke all the Gene Kelly and Jack Lemmon movies but cannot trace this – It may be that it is a stage performance rather than an actual film. sorry to all you buffs for being so incompetent, we all have to start somewhere!! Happy New YearWill try [...]
How true are so called biopic films? I have seen quite a few and wonder how close to the truth they are?…..
or do they elaborate on facts to make the film more interesting?
Do they have input from the actual person (if still alive)….if so does that person get a say in what is portrayed about them? or is the basis of these types of films from other sources and heresay? (i know different films will [...]

What do you think the best film soundtracks are?
Do you like soundtracks that work well with the film but that you couldn’t listen to by themselves, or do you like to buy soundtrack albums?
My own favourites are The Wicker Man; Flash Gordon (inevitably); Pulp Fiction; and Valerie and Her Week of Wonders (the last is maybe a little obscure).
Ennio Morricone and Maurizio Graf
A friend of mine used to have a compilation album of some of Ennio Morricone’s spaghetti western incidental music. Alongside all the usual stuff from The Good The Bad and the Ugly etc, there were a few rare tracks, including a couple sung by Maurizio Graf, and some incredible songs from Seven Guns for the [...]
is the OST of "donnie darko" available anywhere online?
by that i mean the songs used in the film as well as any instrumental backing music…. iTunes has the backing stuff but the others you’d have to find separately…
How long does a movie have to be before the cinema inserts an interval?
I am sure that when I was a kid, most films had intervals, yet they are fairly few and far between today, even in three hour epics!
What criteria do cinemas apply to deciding when there should be an interval? Interestingly, Cineworld at Sheffield often has ten minute intervals in the middle of its Bollywood [...]
Reading the book Fight Club, and a question popped up in my mind…
Actually I wondered this after the film as well…is there any possibility Marla Singer could be a third personality of the narrator? Is there any definite reason why she couldn’t?
Who was the first film star to do full frontal nudity?
In a film that is, most people have been fully nude at some point in their lives.
And I mean a *real* film star, not a p.o.r.n star. And I want verfifiable sightings only, not urban myths about Joan Crawford’s early work.
What books or films do you think are more relevant today than when they were made?
While watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory yesterday it occurred to me that in many ways it’s messages were more relevant to society today than at the time of filming, would you agree and what films or books have you felt this about?
When Walt Disney moved from Kansas City for Hollywood with just $40 and a sketch of a mouse in his pocket, was that Kansas City, Missouri or Kansas City, Kansas?
Big debate raging in Chateau P-Kasso tonight! I say Kansas City Kansas. My filmic genius friend Peter says Kansas City Missouri (which he claims is far bigger that Kansas City Kansas).Don’t know about that – just know Walt skipped Chicago for Kansas City – split with 40 bucks in his sky for Hollywood and the [...]
What films are you really excited about due for release in the future?
I think, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and No Country for Old Men have promise. I was looking forward to Ratatouille and Eastern Promises as well but they’re released, although I haven’t seen them, same for American Gangster. Additionally any directors/actors you really like.
Origin of the term box office.
Does anybody have a confirmed definition of the origin of the term ‘box office’ as in the booth where theatre, concert, cinema etc tickets are sold? Do you think it is related purely to the booth from which ticket sales are made, the seating arrangement in the hall (as in a box at the [...]
Do you buy snacks at the cinema?
A brief scan of the price list at my local (Empire) cinema leads me to believe they are completely gouging their customers when it comes to movie snacks.
Do you buy your snacks in the cinema, or do you sneak them in from the outside – risking the wrath of the attendants if discovered (indeed – [...]
Have you ever gone to the cinema on your own?
My mum did it years ago when a friend cancelled on her so she went anyway and said it was brilliant. Have you ever done it, or would you do it if no one would go with you to see it?
Any idea why people in North and South America are charged more for a subscription to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography than the rest of the world?
This is for a personal subscription.
In the UK and the rest of the world outside North and South America,
Countries mentioned in this Post: United Kingdom

Where can I find the remix of the theme music from the british board of film censors/ pearl and dean and "whole lotta love by Led Zeppelin"
It came out around 1988/89? It uses the music from the cinema when the old Pearl and Dean adverts came on. Someone made a remix that was fantastic. Put me out of my musical misery!
Movie where baby eats peach stone
OK, prepare for a strange question.I have a comical movie scene in my head where a family is so poor, that they only have the stone of a peach to feed their baby. The scene is occasionally interrupted by a "ping" sound, which indicates that the baby has yet again digested the stone into [...]

how many celebs/characters make cameos in world of warcraft?
there’s a cook in stormwind called steven ryback (steven segal played a navy seal/chef called casey ryback in "under seige") and i’m sure that some of the gryphon masters have michael dorn (star trek: tng’s lt worf) as the voice actor.

Do you confuse actors and actresses?
I watched "Man in The Moon" with Jim Carrey and Courtney Love the other night and spent the first hour wondering when Courtney Cox was going to appear.
Anybody else get actors and actresses confused?
Another lock and load question.
Some time back, kent asked where the phrase "lock and load" came from.
I was recently nosing around a site and found a comment by a LAPD SWAT officer that lock and load should only be used when referring to the old WWII Garand M1 rifle. This is because you had to lock the bolt to [...]
